Confronted by a drought crippling livelihoods and livestock, Laftagareen declared saving lives must come first. “We decided to transform the anniversary celebrations into a humanitarian relief campaign,” he said after assessing the crisis.

The president issued a broad appeal for support from aid groups, businesses, and the diaspora to bolster the emergency response for vulnerable communities. He pledged his administration’s full commitment to the ongoing relief effort.
